St. George Marathon

Started in 1976, the St. George Marathon is an international event that draws over 7,000 participants annually. Rated by Runners’ World as one of the four “Marathons [in the world] to Build a Vacation Around,” and included in their list of 10 Most Scenic and Fastest Marathons and Top 20 Marathons in the USA, running the St. George Marathon is truly a treat to enjoy. – RealtyAbsolute.com’s very own, Joe Allen, just completed his 6th St. George Marathon on October 1st, 2011. He is looking forward to next year’s race.

St. George IronMan

Began in 2010, the annual Ford IronMan St. George triathlon combines 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling, and 26.2 miles of running throughout scenic Southern Utah. Race participants from around the world converge on the St. George area every May to compete in this ultra endurance race. Some athletes endure the challenging hills of Southern Utah for nearly 17 hours before crossing the finish line in St. George’s town square. — RealtyAbsolute.com’s very own, Joe Allen, will compete in his first ever IronMan event in 2012.

Huntsman World Senior Games

Promoting worldwide peace, health, friendship, and fun, the Huntsman World Senior Games are an international event drawing thousands of competitors from dozens of countries. Modeled after an Olympic style, the games, held every October, are open to participants over 50 years of age, and offer 27 different sports in which athletes may participate.

One of the premier home shows in the US, the annual Parade of Homes showcases some of the most extravagant new homes in the desert southwest alongside more conventional, yet unique properties. Highlighting over 20 different homes every February, the Parade of Homes draws over 24,000 visitors to the show, and is truly an event you won’t want to miss.




Tuacahn

The Tuacahn Center for the Performing arts features Broadway style live theater, concerts, festivals, and the state’s first charter high school for the performing arts, all set amidst the backdrop of 1,000 ft+ towering red sandstone canyon walls. The outdoor amphitheater alone is a spectacle to behold, but when combined with the Tony Award winning shows, Tuacahn is an experience that cannot be put into words.

Utah Shakespeare Festival

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents life-affirming classic and contemporary plays, with Shakespeare as its cornerstone. Each year, festival patrons can expect to enjoy numerous plays performed by the Tony Award winning theater company. The education arm of the Festival offers university level courses to the general public, ranging from week-long intensive camps to two-day acting classes.

Celebrity Concert Series

Each year, the Celebrity Concert Series (CCS) presents a varied schedule of top tier performances that bring to life the cultural spirit of our community. Concerts range in nature from symphonic performances to opera, ballet, contemporary, and jazz. According to the CCS website, the CCS “has a vision to cultivate enthusiasm and appreciation for the performing arts by presenting an enlightening and superior multi-discipline performing art series. All events are held in the Cox Auditorium at Dixie State College.

St. George Art Festival

For over 30 years, the St. George Art Festival has been a favorite event of Southern Utah residents. Over 110 artists are chosen from hundreds of entrants throughout the US to present their artistry every Easter weekend in the beautiful St. George Town Square. Displaying thousands of original works of art, the festival is punctuated with pageantry, music and food. Townsfolk and visitors from around the world anticipate this wonderful event with excitement. Attend this year’s festival, and pick out your favorite piece for your new home.

Twilight Concert Series at the Tanner

The summer concert series presented at the O. C. Tanner amphitheater, a 2000 seat outdoor venue set amidst the towering walls of Zion Canyon, provides a welcome respite from the summer doldrums. The varied concert schedule brings classical, contemporary, jazz, bluegrass, and more to the tourist haven of Springdale. Concert goers are invited to dress casually and bring a picnic. Between the spectacular outdoor setting at the entrance to Zion National Park, and the top notch musical performances, this exciting series of concerts has become a local favorite.

National Parks & Monuments

Southern Utah and the St. George area are home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Today’s landscape is the culmination of hundreds of millions of years of geologic sculpting.
